Welcome to the home of Pergo in Australia and the South Pacific region. Where did Pergo laminate flooring originate? Laminate production was invented and commenced in the town of Perstorp, Sweden in 1923.
By 1950, the Perstorp company was not only heavily involved in producing chemicals, but had greatly improved its’ laminates and was now churning out a wide array of decorative laminate surfaces.
For the first time in 1977, innovation and new technologies allowed the company to experiment with the idea of using laminate as flooring. Three years later, the first laminate floors were sold in Sweden and shortly after, the rest of the Nordic region.
1985 saw the opening of a manufacturing plant at the Swedish factory, solely dedicated to the production of laminate flooring rather than alongside their chemical operations. Later, a manufacturing plant was launched in the USA, opening up the American market.
Even though Perstorp had been manufacturing laminates since the 1920’s, the brand name “Pergo” was officially launched in 1989 and this resilient, good looking product was finally welcomed to Australia’s shores in the year 2000.
Today Pergo, which continues to be manufactured in Sweden, is still a leader of quality and stylish laminate floating floors. |
